INDEPENDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Independent Advisory Council (IAC) was formed to represent the participants’ voice in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
About
The IAC advises the Board of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) on the most important issues affecting participants, carers and families.
The NDIA Board must consider all advice provided by the IAC when performing its duties as a governing body of the NDIS.

Members
The IAC comprises a Principal Member and no more than 12 Members, who represent a wide range of disability and advocacy sectors, bringing their own lived experience or expertise of disability.
They are the voice of the participants at the highest level, bringing skills, expertise or knowledge that will help the IAC perform its function.
Reference Groups
The IAC has 4 Reference Groups to help inform its advice.
Advice
The IAC produces independent papers, reports and submissions, which culminate in formal advice to the Board of the NDIA.
